Community AI Playbook

From Inquiry to Shared Clarity: Your District's Own AI Framework

A living document co-created with your students, educators, families, and leadership.

Why a Playbook

Why a Playbook, Not Just a Policy

Policies answer “what’s allowed.” A Playbook answers: “Who are we, and how do we want AI to work in our community?”

Most AI policies are reactive: downloaded, name-swapped, adopted. The result sits in a binder. A Playbook is proactive, values-driven, written for everyone, and arrives with buy-in already built.

The Process

01

Framing & Inquiry

We start with administrator strategy sessions to set leadership priorities, values, and guardrails.

02

Listening

We listen to students, educators, families, and the wider community. As one student put it, “AI should be a tool, not the main thing.”

03

Synthesis

We analyze what we hear alongside existing district documents to find themes, tensions, and alignment.

04

Drafting

We draft a values-forward playbook in plain language, designed as a living document.

05

Feedback & Refinement

The community reviews the draft and answers two questions: “What’s missing? What needs to feel more like us?”

06

Launch Support

We support the launch with staff materials, back-to-school PD, and orientation for students and families.

FAQ

How do school districts create an AI policy?

Start with structured listening across every group. Then move through synthesis, drafting, feedback, and revision.

A strong policy covers responsible use expectations, transparency practices, privacy protections, integrity guidance, student voice, family engagement, and alignment with your Portrait of a Graduate.

It is a framework developed through genuine engagement with the people who will live with it.

Four to nine months. We never shorten the listening phases.
